Hi, I’m Alison and I’m the owner of Acorn Cottage. That’s me in the picture, enjoying a visit to the Whitelady Waterfall at nearby Lydford Gorge.

I’ve always loved Devon, having holidayed on the north coast every year as a child, so when the opportunity to move to the county arose, I jumped at it! I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful area and I really enjoy sharing it with my holiday guests. Dartmoor is a really special place with a character all of its own.

Acorn Cottage is located on a former working farm, which has now been split up into six separate dwellings. It’s tucked away in a really peaceful location so is ideal if you are looking for a real ‘get away from it all’ holiday. I live and work next door so am usually around to help you, should you have any queries or problems during your stay.

I keep a variety of animals here, including horses, ducks and chickens, along with several cats. I’m also a keen gardener and have a productive kitchen garden – the raspberries for the jam in your cream tea were grown on site, and there are usually fresh eggs available too.

My vision is to make Acorn Cottage feel like a home-from-home, rather than just another holiday let. Guests certainly seem to appreciate the extra little touches and often comment on the homely character of the cottage. It’s a place where you can relax and unwind, ready to enjoy your precious holiday time in beautiful north Dartmoor.

I really look forward to welcoming you here!
